Narative - STALKER
My inspiration for this photo series came from one of the Wellington City Campaigns called “Stick with the pack”. The campaign was advertised widely throughout public spaces in the city center to encourage people to look out for each other and keep members of their “pack” safe in a night out. The concept of my project was about the consequences of not sticking with the “Pack” after a drinking night. In particular, my photo series portrayed the worst case scenario for a young lady who decided to walk home by herself instead of having someone else in the “pack” to walk her home. In the photo series, the female character was followed by a creepy guy on the street when she got back from drinking late at night and then was harmed in her own apartment. Instead of using actual models for my photo-shoot, I only used shoes to depict the narrative. One of the reasons was that I didn’t want to stick with the ordinary thriller comic style where the faces (or part of the faces; or parts of the body) of the characters were shown. I wanted to experiment with a different visual style. By showing only the shoes, the two characters will be kept anonymous which means that viewers could imagine anyone to be the characters for the story. 2013
